Unlike many web sites that list hotels, we have no monetary affiliation with any of the hotels below. Any savvy web user could use search tools, such
as Expedia or Travelocity, to locate hotels in
Morgantown. The hotels below are locations that I would recommend for my parents, and this list only contains a subset of all available in Morgantown.
It is important to be aware that once the football dates are announced, hotels usually sell out within a day or two. Thus, other area towns, such as
Fairmont, WV, Washington, PA, and Cumberland, MD also house many game day visitors.
Marriott Residence Inn: This hotel opened in 2007 and is directly across the street from the stadium... literally. I have had friends stay here, and they loved the fact they were able to tailgate on premises (at least they could in 2007). If I were a visiting fan, there is no better hotel option than this hotel.
Radisson Hotel at Waterfront Place: This is probably the nicest hotel in Morgantown. It has a beautiful riverfront view and the lounges are
also pretty nice, and usually host many formal town and University gatherings. The problem (like many in this list) is that this hotel is several miles from the stadium
and Coliseum. Thus, this is not one that you can walk to/from sporting events.
Hampton Inn: This hotel is very close to the stadium. In the
parking map from the Mountaineer Athletic Club, this hotel is
across the street from the Green Lot.
Embassy Suites: Personally, this isn't a huge favorite of ours, but its location
requires its listing here. It is around the corner from the Hampton Inn, and absolutely within walking distance to the stadium.
Super 8: I know, I know, Super 8? Yes, this hotel is actually pretty decent. My parents
(and grandparents) HAVE stayed here. It's pretty new (less than 10 years), and is ideal for those coming in from I-68, as it's about a 1/2 mile from
exit 7 in the Glenmark Center. Bob Evans, Outback, Ruby Tuesdays, and others are next door.
Holiday Inn Express: This hotel is directly next to the Super 8, so all the comments
above equally apply here. In addition, it's a little newer than the Super 8 too.
Springhill Suites: This hotel opened in early 2005. It is
in a growing Sabraton area, just off exit 4 of I-68. Again, this is ideal for I-68 travelers. Being so new, and being under the Marriott umbrella, this
is easy to recommend.
Lakeview Resort: Lakeview is a public golf resort just on the outskirts of town (in an area known as Cheat Lake)... I-68, exit 10. They have a great sports bar, the the team stays in this hotel the night before games. My out-of-town family usually stays here on trips to games.
