| [Jim]: |
How do you think you did, personally, versus Marshall? |
| [Jeremy]: |
I think I did pretty good. I wouldn't have given myself an A, but I did OK. For a first game, I think the whole line itself played well... as a whole. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
You didn't play football until the 9th grade. What did you do before that... extracurricularly? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Actually, I did ballet... that was one of the things I did. And, I played some baseball. |
| [Jim]: |
Were you big in high school? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Yeah, I was 6 foot 3, 6 foot 4 in like 7th grade. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
You fish a lot. Where do you fish? |
| [Jeremy]: |
I fish all over West Virginia. |
| [Jim]: |
Do you fish Cheat Lake? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Little bit... a little bit of Cheat Lake. I fish some of the Mon. I fish down in the southern part of the state. I fish Cranberry Glades... those type of places. I can't tell you my good fishing holes, though. |
| Editor's note: I gave him my favorite location in Cheat Lake, but I'm not going to put it online. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
(I saw a blurb on MSN about this) How did you get strep throat? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Buddy, I don't know. I don't even know if I could tell you if I did. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
When Dan (Mozes) was picked as a Playboy All-American, did you buy the magazine? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Of course! |
| [Jim]: |
For the articles? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Just for the articles. I can't find that Playboy right now... I'm just playin'... I forgot all about it. I read the article and then my girlfriend found it. That's about the end of it. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
It's been well-publicized that Coach Trickett took you from the Army. Why the Army, and not the other services? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Actually, it wasn't the Army. I wanted to go into the Marines. The Marines was where I wanted to go. My dad was in the Marines.
I said "military" and they just took it as Army. I wouldn't have minded going in the Army. I was looking towards the military of some sort. I wanted to do special forces. |
| [Jim]: |
Really? |
| [Jeremy]: |
I wanted to be like Marine Recon or Navy Seal. I was looking into all that kind of stuff. |
| [Jim]: |
Do you speak any foreign languages? |
| [Jeremy]: |
No... I would have learned, though. It wouldn't have bothered me. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
Do your parents tailgate? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Yeah, they tailgate. They have a good time. |
| [Jim]: |
Where? |
| [Jeremy]: |
It just depends. Actually, we have some friends that tailgate here in the lot (Silver Lot). They go out and tailgate with them.
|
| |
| [Jim]: |
Funniest thing to ever happen on a road trip? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Hmmm... There have been a lot of funny things. I do remember, but I can't really tell you what it was... it was at the Gator Bowl 2 years ago. We'll just say Jeff Berk got even with me for a prank I pulled on him earlier that year. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
Complete this sentence... What people don't know about me is that I'm really good at... |
| [Jeremy]: |
What people don't know about me... hmmm. |
| [Jim]: |
Ballet? |
| [Jeremy]: |
I guess! I used to be pretty good at ballet. At this point, I don't do much. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
What's your average day like... time you get up, etc? |
| [Jeremy]: |
6:30 in the morning, I get up. I come to football. I meet with Coach Trickett. Then, I'll either work out or go home. Change, take a shower.. what not. Go to school for the day. Come back here to the football stadium. Get ready to go to meetings, practice. And then afterwards, like tonight, I'm going to shoot my bow after practice tonight. And then go home and go to sleep. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
What's your toughest class so far? |
| [Jeremy]: |
It would probably be math... one of my math classes I've had... college algebra, statistics, stuff like that. |
| [Jim]: |
Can I ask you to solve some differential equations? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Um, no. I'm not good at that kind of stuff. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
HBO calls. They want to do The Jeremy Sheffey Story. Who plays you? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Um..... |
| [Jim]: |
I was thinking The Rock. |
| [Jeremy]: |
Yeah, The Rock would be a good guy to play me. That would be a good one. Stone Cold Steve Austin maybe. I'm a little more country than The Rock. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
What's your current weight? |
| [Jeremy]: |
About 290. |
| [Jim]: |
How do you keep that on? |
| [Jeremy]: |
I eat a lot of food. I'm not really a big guy naturally. I have to eat a lot to maintain my weight. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
This is kind of a really silly one... you got the Gridiron Gladiator Award (awarded by coaches for on-field intensity). Is there a trophy for that? |
| [Jeremy]: |
Yeah. |
| [Jim]: |
What does it look like? |
| [Jeremy]: |
It's like a black coal looking trophy. It's got a guy that's all yoked up... and what not. |
| |
| [Jim]: |
Any one memory you'll never forget about the Sugar Bowl... not so much just in the game, but in regards to the entire atmosphere? |
| [Jeremy]: |
To be honest with you, it's probably not knowing Phil Brady was going to run. None of us knew. Not knowing he was going to run that, and when he ran it... and all of a sudden back on the field watching the clock count down. That would be probably the most memorable moment... actually winning it. |
| |
| I wasn't on the field, but I'll never forget hugging so many strangers in the endzone at that exact moment too. -- Jim |
